Use of CBCT in Endodontics

In 2015, AAOMR and American Association of Endodontists (AAE) updated their joint position guidelines on the use of Cone-beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in endodontic treatment. CBCT should not be used for routine endodontic diagnosis or for screening purposes in the absence of symptoms. CBCT should only be used when imaging cannot be met by lower dose two-dimensional (2D) radiography. Specific clinical recommendations are highlighted in the article.

Selection Criteria for the Use of Radiology in
Dental Implantology with Emphasis on CBCT

In 2012, the AAOMR published a position paper in OOOO recommending that cross-sectional imaging be used for assessment of all dental implant sites. Cone-beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is the cross-sectional imaging method of choice. Strengths and weaknesses of other dental imaging modalities are discussed in detail.
